Seasonal influenza activity has increased globally in recent months, with a rising proportion of influenza A(H3N2) viruses being detected. This uptick coincides with winter onset in the northern hemisphere and the typical seasonal increase in acute respiratory infections. WHO issued a bulletin 254 days ago noting that seasonal influenza causes illness ranging from mild to severe, sometimes leading to hospitalization or death.
