WHO reported laboratory-confirmed Nipah virus infection in two healthcare workers at a private hospital in Barasat, West Bengal State, India. Both cases were confirmed by the National Institute of Virology in Pune; one remained on mechanical ventilation while the other experienced severe neurological illness but has since improved.
