WHO issued a bulletin 96 days ago regarding an outbreak of Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The outbreak was first flagged on 5 May 2026 in Mongbwalu Health Zone, Ituri Province, in the DRC, and involved deaths among health workers. WHO reports sustained transmission in the affected region.
